About Dr. Bailon
Gladys Bailón, MD, is a board-certified family medicine physician at South Central Family Practice Clinic in Soldotna, Alaska. Dr. Bailón has been practicing for over 20 years and is committed to providing all her patients with the most comprehensive and compassionate care.
Dr. Bailón was born in Manta, Ecuador, and received her undergraduate degree from the Lehman College branch of the City University of New York in the Bronx, New York. It was while studying abroad at Christian Albrechts University in Kiel, Germany, that Dr. Bailón found her calling in medicine. She obtained her medical degree at the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara in Guadalajara, Mexico, and an internship at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Yonkers, New York, through New York Medical College. Dr. Bailón furthered her training with a residency in family practice at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts, and a fellowship in rural family medicine at Tacoma Family Medicine in Tacoma, Washington.
Dr. Bailón has a wealth of experience and knowledge in family medicine. Having worked at multiple hospitals across Alaska, Washington, New York, Massachusetts, and Mexico, she’s brought her expertise to diverse patient populations. She’s also spent time providing care to Alaska Eskimo communities, and Native American communities in Alaska, New Mexico, Montana, and South Dakota. In addition to dedicating her time to her patients at South Central Family Practice Clinic, she is also a medical care consultant for the Alaska Department of Correction.
To expand her reach of care to diverse populations, Dr. Bailón is fluent in English and Spanish. She also has a working knowledge of German and Italian. In her spare time, Dr. Bailón enjoys reading, yoga, mediation, jogging, aerobics, and traveling. She is married to Dr. Pedro Perez, and has two children who love swimming and hockey.
